A lot of people ask about the process of designing a building, and I think it is different for every architect.  With me it starts with all the notes and information a client gives me and the site.  The second step is laying out a plan on the site.  Early on, when I am comfortable with the direction of the plans, I start focusing on the elevations.  Here’s where it gets interesting for me.  I like to draw, so I produce many many sketches.  Eventually, one will just click and I think I GOT IT!  From there on I develop many drawings until it becomes a hard line Auto CAD drawing.  Below is an example of a conceptual sketch and the hard line drawing that will soon be under construction in Daniel Island Park.  I will keep you posted with photos on the process of this new home under construction.

I am currently working for a client that is involved in the construction of the new World Trade Center Tower One and he invited me to New York to take a tour.  This was the Super Bowl of site visits for an architect.  The experience was incredible and the architecture was amazing.  Toni Tarazi is an architect that works for the Durst Organization and he gave me a 2-1/2 hour tour.  He knew virtually every detail of this magnificent structure  inside and out.  I cant wait to experience this building complete!
