1724 Sailmaker Street is Complete!

Way back in November we blogged about the construction progress of the house we designed at 1724 Sailmaker Street on Daniel Island.  Since then the construction has continued on at a steady pace and now the homeowners are just days away from moving in.  The team at Structures Building Company has done a beautiful job and it has been a lot of fun working with them to see this house go from the drawing table to an artfully crafted home.  Before we show off the finished product, let’s take a look back at where we started.

In this photo from September you can see the house is really starting to take shape.  The main mass of the house has been framed and the garage and porches are in progress.

By November the house was completely framed, and you could finally get a real since of what it was going to look like.  However there was still much work to be done!

May 2012 - Complete!

May 2012 – Complete!

Finally, after 9 months construction is complete!  As you can see, many details were added to the exterior to give it that low country flavor.  We designed a custom truss sculptural detail for the front gable, as well as brackets for the columns and dormer roofs.

This 4,200 square foot home is situated on a double corner lot on the marshes of the Wando River with wonderful views!  There are 5 bedroom and 4.5 baths in this home including the guest suite above the attached garage.  Additionally, there is a den for the kids on the second floor.  This house was designed with the views and outdoor living in mind.  Deep front porches wrap the corner of the house while the back boasts a covered porch and a separate screen porch with a fireplace.

Check back with us in a couple of weeks for a photo tour of this home including the wonderful outdoor living spaces!

Under Construction: 320 Hidden Bottom Lane

320 Hidden Bottom

Last fall we finished the design work on a raised, low country style house in Daniel Island Park. Construction has been full steam ahead ever since, and John Goldfarb of Riverland Builders has done an excellent job of turning our plans into a beautifully crafted home.  Now that it’s only a few months away from completion, we thought it was time to share a little about it on the blog.

The house backs up to the wetlands surrounding the Daniel Island Golf Club.  Designed for outdoor living, this house features expansive porches and open decks on the rear of the house as well as banks of glass to bring the outside in.  A large open foyer invites guest into this 3,900 square foot house with views straight out to the back.  The house has an abundance of living space with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths.  Some of the exciting exterior features include exposed rafter tails, a trellis over the garage doors, and custom brackets.
