New Hope Methodist Church, Shulerville, SC

Divider

Cobb Architects was approached by the 15 members of New Hope Methodist Church to design a new entrance, which included a steeple and bell tower, for their building in Shulerville, SC. The congregation decided to add a steeple and bell tower because they wanted it to look more like a church from the street.

I designed the steeple to step up in height, to make the masses relate nicely to the existing building. Additionally, the steeple and bell tower were used to create a new covered entrance. The bell tower is open, not only from 4 sides at the top, but looking up from the bottom as well. The double front doors were pulled out to be flush with the front wall to make them a more prominent feature of the entrance.
