Edisto Residence

Nestled on a secluded peninsula in the deep creek waters of Edisto Island, this house incorporates the form of a Charleston single with the detailing of low country vernacular. The porches that wrap three sides of the house were meant to extend the living space outdoors and take full advantage of the panoramic views. The curved deck was added to further extend the outdoor living space and was given its shape as a reflection of the narrowing peninsula. This house also boasts an exterior masonry fireplace as a place to roast oysters harvested from the banks of Milton Creek below. All the finishes of the house, from the inside to the out, are meant to reflect the natural context of the home site.
